About the position

The 2025 Legislative Session Distribution Clerk is a short-term, non-partisan role within the Legislative Services Division. The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate the distribution of legislative proceedings and materials to various stakeholders, including state offices, lobbyists, and the general public. The role requires daily interaction with the public and involves various administrative tasks to support the legislative process during the session.

Responsibilities

  • Collate and distribute Legislative proceedings to state offices, lobbyists, and the general public.
  • Mail out copies of bills and file bills for storage.
  • Answer phone calls and assist with mailings.
  • Operate the copy machine and deliver bills and printed materials to the House and Senate.
  • Maintain composure and work cooperatively under pressure with co-workers and the public.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work under heavy deadline pressure.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and productivity as a team member.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, carry and lift up to 50 pounds, and push a cart full of bills.
  • Basic computer literacy or ability to learn.

Nice-to-haves

  • Some knowledge of the Legislative process.
  • Office experience and mail room experience.

  • Compensation for hours worked over 40 hours in a week at time-and-a-half.
