About the position

The Management Development Program (MDP) at M&T Bank is a one-year, non-rotational training initiative designed for recent college graduates. Participants engage in ten weeks of core training followed by on-the-job training, focusing on banking fundamentals, leadership, and project management skills. The program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to become entry-level professionals or managers in their assigned departments while promoting compliance with company standards and fostering a diverse work environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a one-year non-rotational training program while adding value to the assigned department.
• Complete ten weeks of core training to learn banking, financial skills, technical skills, and leadership/interpersonal skills.
• Engage in two group project assignments, collaborating with peers and presenting recommendations to senior management.
• Combine core training with on-the-job training specific to departmental policies, procedures, systems, and products.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations in all tasks performed.
• Identify and escalate risk-related issues to management.
• Promote a diverse work environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain internal control standards and address audit points and regulatory issues as applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree candidate from a school where M&T Bank recruits MDPs or an MBA student with no work experience.
• Outstanding academic credentials with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Up to 1 year of work experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Proficient computer skills and presentation abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
• Relevant work or internship experience.
