About the position

The Mechanical Engineering Intern position at Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) offers an opportunity for students to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting. Interns will work within a dynamic cross-functional team to design, develop, and test innovative solutions for marine environments. This full-time, in-office role is designed for rising juniors or seniors in engineering programs, providing hands-on experience in various engineering tasks and exposure to underwater technologies and Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs).

Responsibilities

  • Design Modeling using SolidWorks.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS and SolidWorks Simulation.
  • Perform Mechanical Calculations using Manual methods, Excel, and MathCAD.
  • Conduct Geometric Analysis using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Engage in Technical Writing for procedures, reports, and presentations.
  • Sort and organize parts for product assembly.
  • Provide assembly and test support as an Engineering Liaison.
  • Learn about underwater technologies and Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs).
  • Gain an understanding of the Oceaneering and OTECH organization.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship.
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program (as a rising junior or senior) or a master's degree program.
  • Ability to work full-time during the defined internship period.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience working with a group or team in a technical setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3.0+ cumulative GPA in a STEM degree program.
  • Academic excellence and community involvement.
  • Familiarity with the application of current engineering software (i.e. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS, Matlab, etc).
  • Ability to create, read, and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Express strong interest in engineering principles inside and outside of the classroom.

  • Base pay rate of $30.00 per hour.
