Earthjustice's Mid-Pacific Regional Office is seeking summer law clerks to support its mission of protecting natural and cultural resources throughout Hawai‘i and the larger Pacific region. The office, established in 1988, has been at the forefront of various environmental campaigns, including restoring stream flows, protecting endangered species, holding government entities accountable for pollution, and advocating for a transition to clean energy. As a summer law clerk, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys on case development and litigation strategies, contributing to significant environmental protections and community empowerment initiatives. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including drafting pleadings and briefs, conducting legal research, developing legal theories, gathering evidence, and attending client meetings and court proceedings. You will also participate in Earthjustice's summer law clerk program, which includes seminars with attorneys and guest speakers on current environmental issues, interactions with local and regional environmental groups, and a job interview workshop. This position is designed to provide law students with hands-on experience in environmental law while fostering a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates must be enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2025 and be available for a full-time commitment of 10 weeks during the summer of 2025. The summer law clerkship is a paid position, with a stipend of $1,319.00 per week, subject to any external funding the student may secure. Earthjustice encourages all interested law students to apply and emphasizes the importance of a strong work ethic, initiative, and sound judgment in potential candidates.
