About the position

Citi is seeking Summer Analysts for its Quantitative Risk Management team in Buffalo, NY. This 10-week developmental program is designed for Master's students, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of risk management, governance, and best practices within a global financial institution. Participants will engage in impactful projects, develop business acumen, and enhance their technical and analytical skills while working closely with management teams and receiving mentorship from senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Work on challenging and impactful projects within the Quantitative Risk Management team.
• Assess risk and develop business acumen related to risk management.
• Build upon leadership skills and deepen technical and analytical abilities.
• Learn about Citi's business operations and the risks it manages.
• Gain a broad understanding of risk measurement techniques including VaR, stress-testing, and scenario analysis.
• Collaborate with management teams and contribute to the risk organization.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, or Mathematics (Graduating between December 2025-May 2026).
• 0-2 years of significant, related work experience.
• Proficiency in analytical, coding, or data mining tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, Python, Hadoop, Spark, MATLAB, Tableau, PowerBI).
• Technological proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to build and maintain excellent business relationships.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with statistical analysis and data/modeling validation.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies.
