About the position

Cenovus's New Grad Program is designed to attract and develop exceptional new graduates, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the company's core business through challenging assignments, training, and mentorship. The New Grad Engineer-In-Training (Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering) will work within the Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability Engineering team, supporting refinery operations and contributing to continuous improvements in reliability and availability. This three-year rotational program includes exposure to various engineering disciplines and requires relocation to different operating sites.

Responsibilities

  • Help the team achieve key metrics such as Instrumentation Reliability Improvements and PM Optimization.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical solutions to Instrumentation, PLC, and Analyzer related issues.
  • Collaborate with Project engineers for engineering reviews and field implementation.
  • Work with maintenance and operations teams to provide technical solutions as needed.
  • Identify and propose opportunities for improvements.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
  • Undergraduate engineering degree in Instrumentation/Electronics/Electrical/Chemical obtained by May 31, 2025.
  • Valid Class D Driver's License with no restrictions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Membership with ISA/IEEE.
  • Knowledge of ISA, API, NFPA, ANSI, IEC Standards.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, SAP/Maximo, Visio.
  • Knowledge of PLC Programming.
  • Enrolled in or a graduate of an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA from a post-secondary program.
  • Previous Cenovus Energy student or co-op experience in oil & gas, refining, or manufacturing.
