About the position

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Signals Processing Undergrad Intern to join the Communications and Signals Analysis Department (CSAD) within the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED). This internship, located in Chantilly, VA, involves modeling and simulation work for communications and signal processing applications, supporting key customers such as the NRO, NASA, and DHS. The intern will utilize MATLAB and/or Python to develop computer models and perform engineering computations, contributing to the success of various technical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support the interests and efforts of primary customers within CSAD, including the NRO, NASA, and DHS.
  • Utilize MATLAB and/or Python to develop computer models or functions for signal processing applications.
  • Perform computer modeling and simulation demonstrating mathematical dependencies and relationships.
  • Work as part of a team supporting one or more technical projects.
  • Apply standard techniques and procedures to carry out prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related program.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience utilizing engineering/modeling tools such as MATLAB and/or Python.
  • Completed undergraduate coursework in signal processing or communications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Active security clearance.
  • Completed coursework in radio communications theory, optical communication, or digital signal processing.
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations, leading small groups, etc.
  • Experience working in an autonomous work environment on complex projects.
