About the position

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Member of the Technical Staff to join the Vehicle and Ground Concepts Department within the Enterprise Effects Division. This role involves participating in early-stage design studies for spacecraft concepts, supporting the development and maintenance of design tools, and establishing strong relationships with various stakeholders. The position requires a commitment to in-person work at one of Aerospace's campuses and offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions for national space programs.

Responsibilities

• Participating in early-stage design studies for spacecraft concepts.
• Supporting continuous development, maintenance, and improvement of design tools and models.
• Developing expertise in spacecraft-level systems engineering to support customer programs.
• Establishing strong working relationships with government, program office, and contractor personnel.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or similar discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months).
• 0-1 year of industry experience or relevant internship/academic experience in spacecraft system design.
• Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and systems engineering topics.
• Experience with concurrent engineering tools, processes, and methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and system engineering topics.
• Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools, and programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, Simulink, STK, C+, VBA, SolidWorks, or Cameo.
• Strong personal initiative to seek out work and establish relationships.
