About the position

The 2025 Spring Associate-Paralegal/Legal Assistant position at Raymond James Financial is a part-time role designed for students currently pursuing a Paralegal or Legal Assistant Studies program. The role involves assisting with various legal projects, including general litigation, corporate governance, and regulatory reporting tasks. The position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional legal environment while working under the supervision of experienced attorneys and paralegals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with specified projects and varied assignments related to legal tasks.
  • Research and compile information to prepare responses for regulatory authorities.
  • Draft standard legal and business communications in support of attorneys and paralegals.
  • Prepare legal documents and correspondence with and without attorney supervision.
  • Provide legal and administrative support for entity management and corporate governance processes.
  • Perform fact gathering and basic legal research using resources like LexisNexis and WestLaw.
  • Coordinate with internal partners to obtain information for research and analysis.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Paralegal Studies or Legal Assistant Studies certificate, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a professional office environment.
  • Understanding of laws, legal codes, precedents, and government regulations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the paralegal profession and corporate governance.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and learn required software applications.
  • Skill in assembling and organizing legal documents and maintaining large volumes of information.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with legal research tools such as LexisNexis and WestLaw.
  • Familiarity with banking, finance, and securities industry operations.
