About the position

The Law Student Academic Internship is designed for law students currently enrolled in an accredited law school and undergraduate students considering law school. Interns will work directly with experienced trial attorneys and assist them with a variety of tasks including victim and witness interviews, assistance with formal plea procedures, trial preparation, research and writing, and support during jury selection and jury trials. Interns will have the opportunity to accompany prosecutors to court to observe and assist with court dockets, hearings, and trials. Additional assignments or projects may be required as prescribed by the interns' schools or professors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct victim and witness interviews
  • Assist with formal plea procedures
  • Prepare for trials
  • Perform legal research and writing
  • Assist with jury selection and jury trials
  • Accompany prosecutors to court for hearings and trials
  • Complete additional assignments as required by school or professors

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited law school or an undergraduate student considering law school
  • Ability to work a maximum of 40 hours per week during the summer internship term
  • Willingness to complete a full background check
  • Attendance at an in-person orientation prior to the start date
