About The Position

Requirements

• Must be pursuing a Master's degree or PhD in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Practical knowledge of Python programming and common libraries for image file processing (OpenCV, Pillow/PIL, Scikit-Image, SciPy).
• Knowledge of statistical principles, linear algebra, and regression analysis.
• Self-starter with an agile mindset and hands-on mentality.
• Process-oriented with strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving capabilities.

Nice To Haves

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in Bioinformatics or Data Sciences preferred.
• Familiarity with recombinant protein expression, purification, and automation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with scientists in the BioMolecular Research department to identify processing needs for raw SDS Page gel images.
• Gather requirements from scientists and product owners, assess problems, and propose solutions.
• Evaluate parameters for automated SDS Page gel image cropping and processing to calculate protein expression yields.
• Compile experimental data, analyze results, and present findings at department meetings and the 2025 Intern Poster Day.
