About the position
This internship opportunity at TKDA is designed for Civil Engineering Technology students who are eager to apply their CAD skills in a practical setting. Interns will work alongside experienced civil engineering professionals on a variety of projects, gaining hands-on experience in the design and implementation of infrastructure and site development projects. The role involves preparing designs, performing calculations, and potentially visiting project sites for assessments and inspections, all while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare preliminary and final designs using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Assist with calculations for project dimensions and elevations.
- Compute and tabulate quantities for projects.
- Conduct site assessments and assist with construction administration responsibilities.
- Perform inspections and maintain progress reports on construction operations.
Requirements
- Undergraduate pursuing an Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize design tasks.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Ability to work outdoors on active construction/project sites and carry up to 50 pounds of surveying equipment.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience developing construction documentation for site grading and civil utilities.
- Experience conducting topographic surveys and processing field data for CAD drawings.
- Experience performing construction observation and survey operations.
