About the position

The 2025 Summer Intern position in the gRED Development Sciences Department at Genentech offers an opportunity to engage in the drug discovery and development cycle. The intern will collaborate with internal teams to enhance processes related to contract management and legal affairs, while also contributing to community-building initiatives within the company. This full-time, 12-week paid internship is designed for students pursuing degrees in relevant scientific or legal fields, providing hands-on experience in a dynamic biotechnology environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal teams and key stakeholders to identify and improve processes related to contract management and legal.
• Draft, review, and negotiate basic service agreements under internal guidance.
• Develop documentation and guidance to improve and simplify legal, contract, or business management processes.
• Assist with other legal and business management projects as assigned.
• Engage in event planning to foster community building within company culture.
• Present progress updates and stakeholder findings to the Enabling Science department.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree, Juris Doctor, or LLM (Master of Laws) degree.
• Required majors include Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Engineering, or related scientific majors; or Legal Studies, Political Science, and similar majors with meaningful coursework in a science or engineering discipline.
• Adept at learning new technologies and software applications.
• Effective and clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to take initiative and work directly with key stakeholders.

• Experience with reviewing contracts and understanding legal contract principles.
• Working knowledge of basic project management principles.
