About the position

We are seeking Industrial Engineer interns who will engage in hands-on work that directly contributes to our company's success. The role involves analyzing the efficiency of manufacturing operations and implementing changes related to personnel, materials, machines, and facilities. Interns will be expected to demonstrate leadership abilities, critical thinking, and effective communication skills, making decisions with guidance from supervisors. This position is categorized as onsite, requiring the successful candidate to report to their assigned plant on a full-time basis during the summer months. Interns will have responsibilities that include confirming or recommending changes to layouts, labor control, and material control. They will frequently interact with individuals outside their immediate work group and assist in developing accurate methods and optimal operation layouts. Additionally, interns will be tasked with making operation descriptions and performing vital calculations to complete studies and modify labor and material control systems. The role requires physical stamina, as interns will need to walk and stand for prolonged periods, read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections. Safety is paramount, and interns must be able to promptly respond to safety instructions and wear personal protective equipment in a loud manufacturing environment that is not climate-controlled. The internship is available in various locations, including Arlington, TX; Bowling Green, KY; Flint, MI; Fort Wayne, IN; Grand Rapids, MI; Lansing, MI; Pontiac, MI; and Spring Hill, TN. Candidates should indicate their preferred location in their application. The internship is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, graduating between December 2025 and May 2028, and able to work full-time during the summer months.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm or recommend changes to layouts, labor control, and material control.

  • Engage in frequent contact with others outside the work group.

Requirements

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • Must be graduating between December 2025 and May 2028.
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
  • Willing to work in a plant environment.
