About the position

The successful candidates will be responsible for analyzing the efficiency of manufacturing operations, focusing on personnel, materials, machines, and facilities. This role requires strong leadership abilities, critical thinking, and effective communication skills, with decision-making supported by mentorship from supervisors. Interns will confirm or recommend changes to layouts, labor control, and material control, ensuring optimal operation layouts and accurate methods are developed. They will also be involved in making operation descriptions and performing vital calculations necessary for completing studies and modifying labor and material control systems. This position is designed for those who are eager to learn and contribute to the manufacturing process while gaining valuable experience in the field of industrial engineering. The role is categorized as onsite, meaning the successful candidate is expected to report to their assigned plant on a full-time basis. Specific physical requirements include the ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods, read standardized work instructions, operate machines and tools, and perform quality inspections. Interns will need to promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals, and wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear plugs. The work environment is loud and not climate-controlled, requiring frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, and lifting of materials weighing up to 40 lbs. Candidates must be willing to work in a plant environment and be prepared for the physical demands of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm or recommend changes to layouts, labor control, and material control.
  • Assist in developing accurate methods and optimum operation layout.
  • Make operation descriptions and perform vital calculations to complete studies and change routines or other systems of labor and material control.
  • Engage in frequent contact with others outside the work group.

Requirements

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • Must be graduating between December 2025 and May 2028.
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
  • Willing to work in a plant environment.
