About the position

The 2025 Summer Intern position in Property & Casualty Claims at State Farm offers students the chance to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry. Interns will collaborate with experienced professionals, engage in meaningful projects, and receive mentorship while being immersed in the operations of a Fortune 50 company. This internship is designed for students completing their sophomore, junior, or senior years, with the potential for continuation over two summers.

Responsibilities

• Gain insight into various areas within claims and learn about other insurance operations.
• Learn claim handling processes such as investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and policy application.
• Work alongside claims teams to review medical, property, liability, and injury-related issues in claim handling.
• Interact with witnesses, agents, other insurance companies, repair shops, contractors, medical providers, and attorneys.
• Engage in the mentorship program and interact with senior leadership.
• Participate in volunteer opportunities to give back to the community.

Requirements

• Majors in Business, Risk Management/Insurance, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or other relevant fields.
• Solid teamwork skills and critical thinking abilities.
• Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
• Strong customer orientation and decision-making skills.
• Must be returning to school for at least one semester following the internship.
• Must reside within the continental U.S. for the duration of the internship.
