About the position

The Software & Advisory UX Intern position at UL is designed for rising seniors pursuing an undergraduate degree in relevant fields. The intern will work closely with cross-functional teams to advocate for user needs, create design assets, and present design concepts, all while contributing to UL's mission of making the world a safer and more sustainable place.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and advocate for client and end user needs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to help define business and feature requirements, user scenarios, and use cases.
  • Create UX and design assets including process flows, site maps, conceptual diagrams, wireframes, and mockups.
  • Present design concepts to the larger team in a clear and organized fashion.
  • Work closely with product stakeholders to ensure a full understanding of the product teams needs and priorities.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and design reviews.
  • Work within project timelines, deliver design assets based on product roadmap.
  • Evangelize user experience and user-centered design throughout the company.

Requirements

  • Rising senior currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in UX, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology or relevant field.
  • Knowledge of modern design/prototyping tools.
  • Demonstrated ability in one or more additional areas of user-centered design such as content strategy, information architecture, or visual design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in modern research, prototyping, and design tools.
  • Strong practical knowledge of user-centered design methodologies, usability principles, information architecture and interaction design.
  • Take ownership for self-development, stay current with design patterns, best practices, and tools in the field of UX.
  • Accept feedback and coaching from senior teammates.
  • Must have the indefinite right to work in the United States.
