About the position

The Summer @ Roche Intern Program has been developed to provide students with a fun yet rewarding summer through hands-on experience and numerous opportunities to network with other interns as well as employees in the organization. Additionally, we help our students meet their career development and educational goals while potentially building a future with the Roche organization. Leveraging the education you received already, we hope to give you an opportunity to grow and develop with us! This internship position is located in Tucson, Arizona (on-site).

Responsibilities

  • Learns and applies company concepts, policies, and procedures.
  • Follows standard practices under the guidance and supervision of experienced engineers.
  • Works on projects of limited to moderate scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Participates in technical team activities and collaborates with team members on various engineering projects.
  • Presents and discusses data within the group, contributing to team knowledge sharing.
  • Makes suggestions to improve work processes and overall efficiency.
  • Assists in the reduction to practice of patentable inventions.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
  • Required Majors: Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Molecular & Cellular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Data Science, Biology - Degrees in science or engineering.
  • Familiarity with searching technical literature.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, graphical and presentation software applications.
  • Understanding of basic engineering techniques and principles.
  • Ability to follow detailed directions and learn from supervision.
  • An interest in increasing quality and promoting a 'Quality First Time' mindset.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to review and process, plan experiments, write-up experimental data and present to broad audiences, learn new tools quickly, assess risk/requirements, write test procedures/reports.
  • Entry level; prior internship or coursework in engineering preferred.
