About the position

The 2025 Summer Internship in Construction Management at CRH offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of construction and materials management. Interns will work closely with different divisions, including asphalt, aggregates, and ready-mix concrete, to understand production processes, compliance requirements, and project management fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Spend time at construction sites, aggregates, asphalt, and ready mix plants to learn production fundamentals.
  • Understand how to estimate and plan plant production requirements.
  • Learn the asphalt and ready mix plant scheduling process to meet customer demands.
  • Understand compliance requirements for operations to meet federal and state regulations.
  • Assist with equipment preventative maintenance and shop operation.
  • Participate in Quality Control/Quality Assurance for asphalt, aggregates, and ready mix.
  • Learn material specification requirements for products.
  • Support the company's safety goals and processes.
  • Gain an understanding of the bidding and execution of construction projects.
  • Spend time in field operations for heavy construction and paving.
  • Understand crew and scheduling efficiency to achieve project goals.
  • Learn about project profitability, including revenue and costs.
  • Learn to derive quantities from plans and accurately price products.
  • Manage customer issues and learn accounts receivable and billing processes.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college degree program with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
  • Adhere to safety requirements and procedures per company policy.
  • Maintain a current driver's license that meets state requirements.
