About the position

The 2025 Summer Internship in General/Editorial at Harper Group offers a hands-on opportunity for interns to engage with the editorial processes of various imprints, including Harper, Harper Business, and Harper Perennial. Interns will learn key tasks related to author relations, manuscript routing, and book launch preparations while working closely with editors and staff responsible for notable titles in both fiction and nonfiction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a working understanding of the teams and tasks involved in publication of the Harper Group's books.
  • Learn important publishing software programs and use them to assist in author communications, expense processing, and other departmental functions.
  • Co-gather and organize weekly editorial meeting agendas and take minutes.
  • Help prepare submissions to literary awards.
  • Contribute to preparation for the launch of fall titles.
  • Attend meetings of interest to get to know editors and other staff.

Requirements

  • Proactive and attentive to detail.
  • Engaged and thoughtful communicator willing to coordinate cross-departmental work.
  • Available to work in a full-time capacity in 2025 or 2026; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master's students, or entry level candidates with up to two years of work experience.
  • Available to work in the NYC office from Monday - Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 2 - August 7, 2025.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrate effective task prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
