About the position

The Graphic Designer Intern at Duquesne Light Company will collaborate with internal teams to create engaging visual assets that support learning and development initiatives. This internship offers a hands-on experience in a supportive environment, allowing interns to contribute to company culture and employee engagement through design. The role is full-time for 12 weeks during the summer, providing a solid start to a career in graphic design.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging graphics for learning and development programs, such as training materials, presentations, and educational resources.
  • Assist in developing visual elements that promote company culture and employee engagement.
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and implement creative ideas that align with our internal goals.
  • Revise and refine designs based on feedback from internal stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple design projects while meeting deadlines effectively.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • Candidates must have completed their sophomore year of studies.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing design skills and creativity (include a link or samples).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive attitude towards learning and receiving feedback.
  • Basic understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with design tools and principles relevant to internal communications and learning materials.
  • Previous internship or freelance experience in graphic design.
