About the position

Trex Company, the world's number one decking and railing brand, is excited to offer a Summer Internship Program for Supply Chain Interns. This internship provides a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the supply chain field, particularly within distribution processes. Interns will engage in various projects that may include the creation of process maps, conducting time studies, and implementing process improvements using lean tools. The role is designed to help interns analyze and present data to identify areas for improvement within different distribution processes, thereby enhancing their analytical skills and understanding of supply chain dynamics. Interns will rotate through several key areas within the distribution facility, including shipping, inventory control, receiving, and kitting production. This rotation will allow them to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the supply chain operations and the various functions that contribute to the overall efficiency of the distribution process. The internship is not only about learning the technical aspects of supply chain management but also about developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Responsibilities

  • Provide support related to distribution processes and projects.
  • Create process maps and conduct time studies.
  • Implement process improvements utilizing lean tools.
  • Analyze and present data to identify areas of improvement within various distribution processes.
  • Rotate through key areas within the distribution facility including shipping, inventory control, receiving, and kitting production.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in classes leading to an accredited Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Transportation, or related programs such as industrial engineering.
  • Must be an upcoming junior or senior with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Willingness to learn, be mentored, and accept/provide constructive feedback.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
  • Ability to work independently and on cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
