About the position

AgWest Farm Credit is actively recruiting current college students for its 2025 Summer Internship Program, aimed at providing a realistic job preview and insights into career opportunities within the financial services industry. This internship is particularly focused on areas such as credit/lending, appraisal, and crop insurance. Interns will be assigned a designated coach, an individual project, and a formal learning guide, which will expose them to various positions and areas of the business. As a member-owned financial cooperative, AgWest Farm Credit assists business owners in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries in securing the necessary financing to operate and grow, as well as providing crop insurance to protect their livelihoods. The customer base primarily spans across Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Nevada, Arizona, and California. The internship program is designed to last from approximately June through early/mid-August, offering full-time positions. Interns will have the opportunity to work in various locations, including Tempe, Arizona, and several cities in California such as Bakersfield, Tulare, Templeton, and Yuba City. The program not only provides a competitive hourly wage of $20.00 but also includes a housing stipend for those who need temporary housing due to the internship location. Responsibilities

  • Participate in various projects related to credit/lending, appraisal, and crop insurance.
  • Work closely with a designated coach to gain insights into the financial services industry.
  • Complete an individual project that contributes to the team's goals.

Requirements

  • Current pursuit of a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, ag economics, ag business, or a related field.
  • Preference for Juniors expected to graduate in 2026.
  • Coursework related to ag business, finance, accounting, economics, farm and ranch management, business management, marketing, or related courses.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork through involvement in extracurricular activities or outside work experience.
  • Completion of the online job application, including an up-to-date resume and transcripts.

Nice-to-haves

  • An agricultural background is desirable but not required.
