About the position

The internship program at Sargent Corporation is designed to provide students with hands-on experience and the opportunity to learn from industry professionals with extensive experience. Students enrolled in CET, CMT, CE, and ME programs will gain practical field skills and knowledge that reinforce their classroom studies. The program aims to teach the basics from the ground up, allowing interns to take on more responsibility and increase their workload as they gain confidence. The ultimate goal is to transition interns into a full-time position as a 1st year Foreman after three years of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• 1st Year Intern: Learn the trade in the field alongside experienced personnel, report to a foreman, perform manual labor tasks, learn safe and efficient work practices, use hand tools and power equipment, participate in Safety Task Assessment meetings, support utility crews, building excavation, erosion control, and survey/layout crews.
• 2nd Year Intern: Assume more leadership responsibilities, mentor 1st year interns, work closely with foreman, participate in planning and production analysis, learn field book setup, assist with Quality Control, utility work, instrument setup, pipe laying, material testing, and CAD training.
• 3rd Year Intern: Act as a Foreman Trainee, manage small crews, mentor 1st and 2nd year interns, assist Superintendent with planning, research item details, participate in production analysis, maintain organized field books, and lead a small crew.

Requirements

• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Willingness to travel 100%.
