About the position

The DevOps Engineer position at Blue Origin is a critical role within the Lunar Permanence business unit, focusing on the development of the Blue Moon lander product lines. This position requires a commitment to safety and quality in the context of human spaceflight, as well as collaboration with diverse engineering teams to ensure compliance with standards and processes. The role involves designing and developing continuous integration and delivery pipelines for avionics software, mentoring team members, and contributing to the long-term vision for lunar missions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop continuous integration and delivery pipelines for avionics software.
  • Train, guide, and mentor team members on CI/CD best practices.
  • Set direction and goals for the team regarding project impact, product quality, and engineering efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze data to understand and troubleshoot pipeline performance.
  • Understand the safety-critical software development process and create tooling to enhance efficiency.

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 0-1 year professional experience minimum.
  • Experience developing and owning CI/CD pipelines that deliver high quality work continuously.
  • Experience improving stability through monitoring, analysis, thoughtful code reviews, and detailed feedback.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven understanding of source control tools and concepts such as git workflows, versioning, and branching.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Linux, Docker, Continuous Integration and Delivery.
  • Experience with scripted and compiled languages such as Python and C/C++.
  • Experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
  • Experience using configuration as code tools (e.g., Ansible, Vagrant, Terraform, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and safety-critical software in the Aerospace Industry.
