About the position

The Propulsion Engineer role at Blue Origin is designed for early career graduates who are passionate about contributing to the development of safe and reusable space vehicles. This position focuses on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of propulsion systems, with an emphasis on resolving non-conforming hardware and implementing design improvements for rocket engine components. The role requires collaboration within a diverse team to enhance production processes and ensure quality in human spaceflight initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve non-conforming hardware issues throughout flight engine production.
  • Develop design improvements for rocket engine components and assemblies.
  • Drive design for manufacturability improvements and update assembly procedures.
  • Detail and release changes within CAD models/drawings using configuration management processes.
  • Balance multiple technical issues effectively.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or higher in an Engineering discipline with exposure to component design, fabrication, build, and assembly.
  • Experience examining and providing resolutions for non-conforming hardware.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and large assembly model management (preferably Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM).
  • Knowledge of GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain professional relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with design, production, and assembly in propulsion, aircraft, spacecraft, oil & gas, automotive, naval, nuclear, or heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials, treatments, and manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility.
  • Experience with production quality management systems.
  • Experience transitioning products from development to production.
