About the position

The Propulsion Engineer role at Blue Origin focuses on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. This position is integral to ensuring safe human spaceflight by resolving non-conforming hardware issues and implementing design improvements for rocket engine components. The engineer will work collaboratively within a diverse team to enhance production processes and contribute to the company's mission of enabling millions of people to live and work in space.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve non-conforming hardware issues throughout flight engine production.
  • Develop design improvements for rocket engine components and assemblies.
  • Drive design for manufacturability improvements and update assembly procedures.
  • Detail and release changes within CAD models/drawings using configuration management processes.
  • Balance multiple technical issues effectively.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or higher in an Engineering discipline with exposure to component design, fabrication, build, and assembly.
  • Experience examining and providing resolutions for non-conforming hardware.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and large assembly model management (preferably Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM).
  • Knowledge of GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain positive relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with design, production, and assembly in propulsion, aircraft, spacecraft, oil & gas, automotive, naval, nuclear, or heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials, treatments, and manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility.
  • Experience with production quality management systems.
  • Experience transitioning products from development to production.
