About the position

The Engineer position at Blue Origin is focused on developing thermal control systems for lunar landers as part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. This role involves working within a diverse team to create sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar surface. The engineer will be responsible for thermal components from conception through testing and integration, contributing to innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop spacecraft thermal control systems.
  • Manage thermal components from conception through development, testing, and integration.
  • Collaborate with the Thermal Hardware group and Thermal Analysis group.
  • Create component specifications, test plans, and execution reports.
  • Conduct occasional thermal analysis and make/buy decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of multiple generations of lunar landers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 0+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience.
  • Solid understanding of thermal fundamentals and spacecraft thermal hardware.
  • Ability to maintain positive professional relationships and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant aerospace experience.
  • Experience building and testing hardware.
  • Understanding of pumped fluid loop hardware and semi-passive devices.
  • Familiarity with Thermal Desktop and Sinda/Fluint.
