About the position

The Global Markets Associate in Equity Research at RBC Capital Markets is responsible for conducting fundamental analysis, building financial models, and contributing to research content within a specific sector. This role involves supporting client queries, maintaining databases, and assisting with various projects while ensuring compliance with firm policies. The position offers hands-on experience and exposure to different areas of capital markets, working alongside industry experts.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining complex financial models and equity valuation tools
  • Researching and staying up-to-date with industry trends
  • Contributing to day-to-day production of research content and longer-term projects
  • Responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in your assigned sector
  • Developing expertise in the assigned sector
  • Supporting and answering client queries related to the sector
  • Assisting in the development and detailed modeling of company-specific financial models
  • Helping maintain and develop sector-specific databases
  • Coordinating, generating, and maintaining research reports, presentations, and databases
  • Helping coordinate quarterly and year-end reporting initiatives
  • Participating in and assisting with morning comments
  • Providing research support to analysts as required
  • Assisting with special ad-hoc projects, presentations, and initiatives as assigned
  • Proactively identifying operational risks/control deficiencies in the business
  • Reviewing and complying with Firm Policies applicable to business activities
  • Escalating operational risk loss events, control deficiencies, and risks identified to line manager and relevant risk and control functions promptly.

Requirements

  • Business curriculum, including MBA, CFA or undergraduate degree
  • Series 7, 63, 86 and 87 licensed
  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam
  • Superior customer service focus and attitude for internal and external clients
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Commitment to task and attention to detail
  • Strong PC skills specifically in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities
  • Self-starter, organized, and able to work independently
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Good personal skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Previous exposure to the capital markets is a definite asset but not required.
