About the position

The 211 Resource Database Specialist at United Way of Central Alabama, Inc. plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining the 2-1-1 community services resource database. This position involves providing case management, processing temporary financial assistance requests, and ensuring accurate reporting related to the ARESET program. The specialist will also serve as backup support for the 2-1-1 call center, ensuring excellent customer service and accurate information dissemination.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the 2-1-1 community services resource database.
  • Communicate with new agencies to facilitate their addition to the resource database.
  • Attend outreach events and resource fairs to seek out new community resources.
  • Regularly update existing resources to ensure accuracy and currency of resource profiles.
  • Screen temporary financial assistance requests and provide case management to determine eligibility for payment.
  • Process purchase orders for payment related to financial assistance.
  • Follow up with potential ARESET participants and submit monthly ARESET reports.
  • Provide backup support to the 2-1-1 call center, delivering excellent customer service and accurate information.
  • Meet and maintain Inform USA Certification Standards.
  • Participate in the Community Initiatives' Continuous Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Work or volunteer experience in a social service environment with knowledge of community programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people and organizations.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations, including seniors and immigrants.
  • Ability to exhibit a non-judgmental attitude toward individuals facing life challenges.
  • Proven ability to type accurately and enter data into a database.
  • Social Work or related degree in a human services field with 2 years' experience.

Nice-to-haves
