About the position

The System Administrator 2 at InterImage, Inc. is responsible for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems. This role involves managing IT system infrastructure, providing support for day-to-day operations, and ensuring the integrity and performance of various client/server/storage/network devices. The position requires a strong background in Linux administration, with additional experience in Windows and network administration being desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Manage daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems.
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems.
  • Support IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
  • Assist users in accessing and using IT systems.
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Provide in-depth experience in troubleshooting IT systems.
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets.
  • Support the dispatch system and hardware problems, remaining involved in the resolution process.
  • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems, install/load operating system software, and maintain network components.

Requirements

  • Ten years of experience as a System Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or five years of additional System Administrator experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
  • Primary skill in Linux administration, including VM creation.
  • Some experience in Windows workstation/server administration is desirable.
  • Experience in network administration, including clearing MAC addresses, configuring network ports, and disabling network ports.
  • Experience in updating workstations with the latest security patches and ensuring compliance with security requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional operating systems beyond Linux and Windows.
  • Familiarity with advanced network configuration and security protocols.
