About the position
The After School Enrichment Specialist at IDEA Public Schools is responsible for facilitating after school programming aimed at providing academic support, enrichment opportunities, and college/career readiness for priority students. This part-time role involves working closely with campus principals and the After School Coordinator to ensure that the programs align with the school's vision and priorities. The position is grant-funded, with no guarantee of ongoing employment, and requires a commitment to allowable activities as defined by the grant.
Responsibilities
- Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns with campus-wide initiatives.
- Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
- Provide enrichment and recreation leadership for program students.
- Facilitate planned enrichment and/or recreational activities for groups of students (average group size 12-18).
- Assist in developing students' cognitive capacity and increasing academic skill development.
- Foster students' self-esteem and motivation through positive interaction.
- Attend scheduled meetings with the Site Coordinator and Project Director to coordinate program design and evaluation.
- Organize the schedule of enrichment and/or recreational activities in collaboration with the Site Coordinator and Project Director.
Requirements
- Current college enrollment with up to 15 college hours or professional certification in the subject to be taught.
- Experience working with youth in formal or informal settings.
- Experience working in a classroom or school setting.
