About the position

The Campus Security Officer I is responsible for performing campus security and student control services under the direction of site administrators and security sergeant. The officer will patrol assigned district facilities and related public areas to protect students, personnel, facilities, and grounds, deter inappropriate behavior, and assist in maintaining a trouble-free campus. The role includes monitoring student conduct during school activities, responding to emergencies, and interacting with students and the public to ensure safety and compliance with laws and campus rules.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols school facilities to provide visibility and maintain security.
  • Monitors student conduct during school activities.
  • Informs and interacts with students and personnel regarding laws and enforcement procedures.
  • Communicates with administrators and staff on security-related issues.
  • Responds to emergencies and potential emergency situations.
  • Restrains violent and combative individuals as directed.
  • Assists law enforcement and school administrators.
  • Serves as a point of contact for the public and visitors.
  • Prepares documentation and reports on incidents.
  • Administers first aid as needed.
  • Attends required training for professional development.
  • Maintains professional relationships with students.

Requirements

  • Legible and valid proof of updated resume.
  • Possession of the SB 1626 Campus Security Course Certificate.
  • Current 40-Hour BSIS Guard Card.
  • Completion of NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 courses.
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Two years of experience related to safety and/or security or three years of experience working with students in education.
  • One year of peace officer or professional security guard experience preferred.
  • Associates Degree (AA) or higher preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • PC 832, Basic POST Certificate or Reserve Officer POST.
  • CPR with AED and first aid certification from a standardized course.

  • Part-time position with a salary range of $23.90 to $29.07 per hour.
