The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of relevant training or experience, or a passing score on the high school proficiency test established by the Cumberland County Schools. A minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute is also required. In this role, the Clerk II will prepare and review correspondence, ensuring that all documents are grammatically correct and properly formatted. The individual will maintain organized files of office records and correspondence, which involves establishing subject matter groupings based on the needs of the office. The Clerk II will also be responsible for gathering information from various sources and presenting it to the supervisor as needed. Additionally, the position involves managing incoming mail, receiving telephone calls and visitors, and providing information regarding school activities and programs. The Clerk II will handle routine complaints from the public and refer them to the appropriate staff for resolution. The role also includes preparing agendas for meetings, taking minutes, and following up on correspondence related to those meetings. Confidentiality is paramount in this position, and the Clerk II is expected to maintain discretion regarding work-related matters. Responsibilities

  • Prepares correspondence and reviews/edit correspondence prepared by staff members for grammar and format.
  • Maintains files of office records and correspondence, establishing subject matter groupings as needed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with one year of training beyond high school or one year of experience in this job category.
  • Must meet established score on the high school proficiency test developed by Cumberland County Schools.
  • Minimum typing skill of 35 words per minute.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license and be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested.
