About the position
The Elementary Teacher for the Autism Pool at Aurora Public Schools is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with autism in an inclusive educational environment. This role focuses on fostering academic, social, and emotional growth for students while collaborating with other educators and support staff to create a positive learning experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized instruction to students with autism.
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of students.
- Collaborate with special education staff and general education teachers to support student learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.
Requirements
- Valid teaching certification in Colorado or another state.
- Experience working with students with autism or special needs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with behavior management strategies.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and related teaching methods.
