About the position

The High School Teacher for the Autism Pool at Aurora Public Schools is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with autism. This role focuses on creating an inclusive and adaptive learning environment that meets the unique needs of each student, fostering their academic and social development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism.
  • Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment tailored to the needs of students with autism.
  • Collaborate with other educators and specialists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.

Requirements

  • Valid teaching certification in Colorado or another state.
  • Experience working with students with autism or special needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement IEPs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a high school setting.
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and effective teaching strategies for students with autism.
