About the position

The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving approximately 3500 students in Westchester County. We are seeking excellent educators who can provide high-quality instruction and build authentic, supportive relationships with students. We are committed to hiring an inclusive teaching staff to create warm, joyful, student-centered, and welcoming schools. Chappaqua CSD is looking for thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated probationary position of Speech Language Pathologist at Horace Greeley High School beginning 12/2/2024.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate experience in utilizing research-based speech and language intervention strategies.
  • Provide mandated speech and language therapy for students as described on each student's IEP.
  • Develop and monitor IEP goals and objectives.
  • Serve as the Speech and Language Pathologist at CSE meetings for students.
  • Maintain IEP compliance, student files and rosters for the school team.
  • Participate as a member of the school based Child Study Team.
  • Interpret assessment findings and convey information to parents and school staff.
  • Develop and implement intervention strategies.
  • Serve as resource to parents, school staff and administration.
  • Collaborate with community therapists and other healthcare providers for effective coordination of speech and language services.
  • Assess the need for assistive technology and equipment and make recommendations for its use at school.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that prioritizes the social and emotional well-being of students.
  • Implement evidence-based social-emotional learning strategies to promote emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
  • Utilize current educational research to inform instructional practices.
  • Implement formative assessments regularly to gauge student understanding.
  • Incorporate formative and summative data analysis into lesson planning.
  • Infuse culturally relevant practices into curriculum design.
  • Integrate diverse perspectives and voices into instructional materials and resources.
  • Engage in regular, collaborative professional development.

Requirements

  • NYS Speech and Language Disabilities Certification
  • Successful experience as a school based speech and language therapist.
  • Knowledge and experience in special and general education, pedagogy, and assessment.
  • Able to administer, analyze and score standardized assessments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience as an SLP preferred.
  • Knowledge of the RULER approach is preferred.
