About the position

The Long Term Substitute Teacher for Grade 3 SEI Integrated at Somerville Public Schools is responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment while delivering instruction aligned with state standards and district curriculum. This role emphasizes understanding child development, utilizing differentiated instruction, and fostering communication with students, parents, and colleagues to support each student's unique learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning, preparation, and organization of materials for curriculum delivery.
• Collaborates with other educators and maintains ongoing communication with adults involved in students' learning.
• Establishes relationships with parents and caregivers, maintaining two-way communication about student progress.
• Plans units and lessons aligned to state standards and district curriculum.
• Provides ongoing formative and summative assessments and analyzes assessment data to determine student learning needs.
• Adapts curriculum and instruction to meet varied learning strengths and needs of all students.
• Establishes and maintains culturally responsive communication with parents and caregivers.
• Collaborates with other educators for specialized instruction and social-emotional support.
• Follows guidance from the School Principal and other administrators to maintain a safe and equitable learning environment.
• Participates in professional growth opportunities and reflects on current practices.

Requirements

• Appropriate Department of Elementary and Secondary Educator's license in the field or subject for this position.
• DESE SEI endorsement required.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual Educator preferred.

Benefits

• Salary of $150 per day.
• Temporary appointment for the school year schedule, Monday to Friday.
