About the position

Stella Middle Charter Academy is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (Inclusion/Resource Specialist) for the 2024-2025 school year. This position is designed for educators who are passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree and a California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate). Candidates with an intern credential will also be considered. The role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom where all students can thrive, and it involves collaborating with general education teachers to implement effective strategies for students with special needs. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. This includes conducting assessments, monitoring student progress, and adjusting instructional strategies as necessary. The teacher will also provide direct instruction to students in both resource and inclusion settings, ensuring that all students have access to the curriculum and are supported in their learning. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Special Education Teacher will engage with families to promote understanding and support for their children's educational journeys. The position requires strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to professional development. Teachers will participate in two weeks of required professional development prior to the start of the academic year, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the needs of their students.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate).
  • Two years of urban teaching experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Korean is desirable.
  • Possession of BCLAD, CLAD, BCC, or LDS certificate is desirable.
