About the position

The Madison Metropolitan School District is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Bilingual Resource Teacher (BRT) for Science for the 2024-2025 school year. This part-time position (0.5 FTE) involves providing bilingual instruction and support to students, particularly English Language Learners, in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment. The role emphasizes curriculum development, effective teaching practices, and collaboration with staff to enhance student learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Use standards to identify common learning targets for instruction.
• Develop daily and weekly plans to support student growth towards mastery of standards.
• Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students.
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs.
• Provide daily opportunities for students to engage in reasoning and discussion.
• Define and plan formative assessments to show evidence of learning.
• Provide meaningful feedback to students to promote involvement and progress.
• Analyze data and adjust instruction based on student achievement.
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and resource needs.
• Collaborate with staff in support of student learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license in High School Core content (Math, Science, English, Language Arts, or Social Studies).
• Native-like fluency in Spanish and English.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual/Bi-Cultural ESL teaching license (preferred).
• Experience in curriculum development for bilingual and ESL instruction.
