About the position
The Assistant Wrestling Coach at Pueblo City Schools is responsible for supporting the head coach in developing and implementing a successful wrestling program. This role involves mentoring student-athletes, promoting sportsmanship, and ensuring a positive and safe environment for all participants. The coach will work closely with students, parents, and the community to foster a culture of respect, integrity, and collaboration within the wrestling program.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting wrestling practices and competitions.
- Mentor and support student-athletes in their personal and athletic development.
- Promote sportsmanship and a positive team culture among athletes.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during practices and competitions.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding the wrestling program.
Requirements
- Current teaching license or retired teacher status, or completion of CHSAA Online Coaches Test and NFHS Concussion Certificate if not licensed.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in sports coaching, particularly wrestling.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous coaching experience in wrestling or other sports.
- Successful participation in athletics at the high school or collegiate level.
- Previous playing experience in wrestling.
