About The Position
The Retail Work Experience Trainee position at Goodwill Industries of Southern California is designed as a temporary work experience opportunity for individuals looking to gain essential skills in the retail sector. This role provides participants with hands-on training in various tasks associated with retail operations, allowing them to learn and develop the necessary skills to succeed in a retail environment. Participants will be placed at different work sites, each offering unique experiences that contribute to their skill attainment and professional growth. The program is structured to meet specific requirements, and selected individuals will train for a predetermined number of hours, ensuring they receive comprehensive exposure to the retail industry. As a Retail Work Experience Trainee, individuals will engage directly with customers, providing excellent service while maintaining a friendly and cooperative attitude. Safety is a priority, and trainees are expected to follow all safety rules and exercise caution in their work-related activities. The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe environment by adhering to social distancing and personal protective equipment policies. Participants will be responsible for receiving and accurately recording donations using technology, sorting, cleaning, and stocking merchandise on the sales floor according to company standards. Additionally, they will merchandise and maintain the sales floor to meet established guidelines, load and unload trucks, and work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. This position also includes additional responsibilities such as performing necessary janitorial work and completing other duties and special projects as assigned. It is important to note that this is a temporary position, providing a valuable opportunity for individuals to gain experience and insight into the retail industry while contributing to Goodwill's mission of supporting the community.
