About the position

Under the general supervision of the Families Forward/Crisis Services Coordinator, provides a supportive atmosphere for families and children experiencing acute mental health crisis both in the mobile crisis and office settings. Works extensively with community emergency personnel including police officers and EMTs, co-responds to aspects of crisis situations, and monitors program activity. Provides assistance to therapists and interacts with consumers in a short-term crisis intervention program. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with families and children experiencing behavioral health crisis in accordance with treatment plans developed by professional personnel. Responsible for maintaining a secure environment and obtaining and sharing information with therapists in the CMHA-CEI system. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out all activities of the program/sub-unit in accordance with CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • A minimum of six months’ experience working with consumers experiencing mental health crisis.
  • Ability to problem solve crisis situations and de-escalate behavioral health crisis with consumers both individually and in group settings.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of clinical diagnoses for this population.
  • Experience with children and adolescents with Severe Emotional Disturbance and their families.
  • Ability to process information to recognize problems and solutions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and effectiveness in interpersonal skills including productivity and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to process extensive documentation.
