About the position

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) role is a part-time position focused on supporting the information assurance program for a specific program, organization, system, or enclave. The ISSO is responsible for implementing and enforcing information systems security policies, maintaining operational security posture, and managing security aspects of the information system. This role requires a strong understanding of security tools, risk management frameworks, and compliance with relevant standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for a program's information assurance program.
• Implement and enforce information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.
• Maintain operational security posture for an information system or program.
• Assist with the management of security aspects of the information system.
• Perform day-to-day security operations of the system.
• Evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing classified information.
• Perform vulnerability/risk assessment analysis to support certification and accreditation.
• Provide configuration management for information system security software, hardware, and firmware.
• Manage changes to the system and assess the security impact of those changes.
• Prepare and review documentation including System Security Plans (SSPs) and Risk Assessment Reports.

Requirements

• Three years of experience as an ISSO on similar programs and contracts.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• DoD 8570 compliance with IAT Level I or higher.
• Knowledge of XACTA, LATTEART, CIVET, SECURITY CENTER, and SCANBOY.
