About the position

The Department Manager for Inventory Control is responsible for overseeing the receiving and inventory management processes within the store. This role ensures the accuracy of product deliveries, maintains vendor relationships, and implements company policies related to inventory control. The manager will also train staff, manage inventory systems, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and logs all Direct Store Delivery (DSD) deliveries and verifies invoice accuracy.
  • Maintains customer service standards with a focus on fast and friendly service.
  • Ensures cost control, quality control, and inventory control through order verification and auditing.
  • Maintains organized records of invoices and reports according to retention schedules.
  • Prevents shrink, damage, and spoilage of products, managing damaged goods appropriately.
  • Responsible for the security and organization of receiving and storage areas.
  • Trains employees on store policies and procedures, identifying those with potential for advancement.
  • Inspects and reports malfunctions of backroom equipment to the store director.
  • Implements emergency procedures for equipment and software malfunctions.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 60 lbs.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
  • Familiarity with product handling, sanitation, and department policies.

  • Experience in retail inventory management.
  • Familiarity with electronic receiving systems.
