About the position

Murray Resources is seeking a CNC Lathe Machine Operator to set up and operate both conventional and CNC machines in a climate-controlled environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in CNC machine operations, a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards. This full-time position operates on a 2nd shift schedule, focusing on improving operational efficiency through precise machining processes.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
• Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
• Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
• Perform any other work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by immediate supervisor.

Requirements

• Graduate of technical school, full apprenticeship program, or completion of in-company, three-year training program.
• 2-5 years of CNC Lathe experience.
• Ability to operate CNC lathes to perform machining operations, including turning, drilling, and threading.
• Completion of a 2-year technical school or 2 years of in-company training program.
• Company training as required.
• Good knowledge of materials, feeds, and speeds.
• Ability to make basic set-ups from scratch, including installing tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
• Close attention and care to prevent damage to complex machine tools or costly metals such as Stainless, Inconel, and Titanium.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications and produce precision work.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast-paced and demanding.
• Self-directed with excellent initiative and organizational skills.
• Strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy.
