The CNC Programmer/Machinist is responsible for setting up, writing, and editing programs for numerically controlled machinery, which includes lathes, mills, drills, and other equipment as required. This position specifically caters to candidates who are available for the 2nd shift, which operates from Monday to Friday, 6 PM to 2:30 AM. The role requires a strong focus on maintaining quality and tolerances within .0003, ensuring that all machining processes adhere to written and verbal procedures. The CNC Programmer/Machinist will work from various documentation such as work order routings, prints, sketches, and layout sheets, as well as verbal instructions. A working knowledge of programming languages is essential, along with the ability to learn and adapt to different machines. The individual must be capable of recognizing and understanding machine parameters and modifying them as necessary under the supervisor's guidance. Additionally, the role involves utilizing knowledge of the working properties of various materials, including stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and brass, among others. Responsibilities also include presetting tools, inspecting work using precision measuring instruments, and following preventative maintenance procedures on equipment. The CNC Programmer/Machinist must report any operating difficulties to the supervisor and ensure that the work area remains clean and orderly. Other duties may be assigned as needed, and adherence to company safety policies is mandatory.
