About the position

The Data Center Ops Analyst position is a contract-to-hire role focused on maintaining and monitoring the data center's infrastructure, including IBM Mainframe, Linux, Unix, and Windows platforms. The analyst will be responsible for incident and change management processes, ensuring the availability and functionality of the computing environment, and supporting IT infrastructure services. This role requires effective communication with IT support staff and users, as well as the ability to manage hardcopy output requests within the data center.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently use incident and change management processes to document and notify stakeholders of incidents/changes affecting the Data Center Infrastructure.
  • Monitor events and production batch schedules, providing initial responses to alerts caused by failures.
  • Escalate service incidents in a timely manner for swift resolution and open event tickets.
  • Provide detailed turnover to the following shift and interface with internal user community and support groups.
  • Support mainframe generated computer output in a distributed print environment.
  • Manage output through application for distribution in postscript format to various network attached printers.
  • Support the implementation and operation of infrastructure services including storage, network, capacity, database, and hardware support.
  • Maintain a master knowledge base with guidelines and procedures for staff to manage the infrastructure and test customer-facing products.

Requirements

  • Some college or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years of IT experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work positively in a team environment.
  • Good problem-solving, analysis, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and pass a background and drug screen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Data center experience (2 years preferred).
  • Experience with UNIX and Linux systems.
