About the position

The Direct Labor position on the 2nd shift involves various tasks related to the finishing process of raw parts, including quality inspection, sanding, and transportation of finished products. The role requires physical mobility and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Stack spraying of raw parts.
• Quality inspection of finished parts.
• Stacking finished parts in racks and carts for transportation to Final Assembly.
• Hand and machine sanding of product between finish coats.
• Identify material and staining defects and repair as needed.
• General cleaning of the finishing department.
• Operate spray gun.
• Have working knowledge of existing product.
• Use pallet jack and power hand tools.
• Wear protective gear as needed (dust mask, clothing, and gloves).
• Stage and rack parts for Final Assembly.
• Transport wood components to and from the finishing area.
• Stacking/unstacking finished and cured product.
• Equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Understanding of the methods and practices of finishing.
• Participation in Lean Process improvement events.
• Create necessary reports and documentation as required.
• Willingness to cross-train with opportunities to learn and perform tasks or responsibilities outside of the primary job role.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Physical mobility sufficient to accommodate bending, reaching, lifting and gripping up to 50 lbs.
• Basic math skills to include fractions and decimals, including conversion and understanding millimeters.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Good attention to detail.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and desire to take on new projects.
• Team player.
• Capable of handling a fast-paced environment.
• Stress tolerant.
