About the position
Carter Express/Carter Logistics is seeking a dedicated Dispatcher to join our Operations team. This full-time position is essential for overseeing and coordinating the activities of our drivers, ensuring that routes are managed efficiently and effectively. The Dispatcher will be responsible for updating websites and monitoring the timeliness of routes, which is crucial for maintaining our high standards of service. This role requires professional communication with suppliers, customers, drivers, internal departments, and terminal locations to ensure smooth operations. The Dispatcher will work Monday through Friday during the 2nd shift from 3 PM to 12 AM, with the possibility of working weekends as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of company policies and expectations, and will be able to manage drivers effectively while adhering to these guidelines. This position is vital for maintaining the flow of operations and ensuring that all drivers are dispatched to and from the facility in a timely manner. In addition to managing routes, the Dispatcher will need to demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to problem-solve in high-pressure situations. A solid work history and a willingness to work collaboratively within a team environment are essential for success in this role. The Dispatcher will also be expected to learn new software programs as necessary, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook being required. Knowledge of TMW software is a plus, but not mandatory.
Responsibilities

- Support and enforce company policies and expectations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prior dispatch, route management, and dispatching experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge in logistics and manufacturing is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Highly organized, responsible, and dependable in high-pressure situations.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of TMW software is a plus.
